For me it's about really taking the time to get to know, not just your clients, but their respective sectors and competitors. This will help you get a firm grasp on your client's position in the market and understanding of their goals. Don't be afraid to ask questions and get under the skin of client objectives - both commercial and communications as in every likelihood they will be linked. I am also impressed by proactivity and going the extra mile, offering new opportunities or taking the time to review what's going on in the media and presenting ideas which could work for your client.

When you want to know your clients You need to first know there key decision maker,the leadership team and then understand there domain,what are there requirements,what are the problems they are facing and how these problems can be resolved and what are the time lines for closure of these issues.A customer life cycle process will ensure customer centric solutions are provided.The product or service sold needs to updated and the opportunities to sell new products and value added services to be explored.Proper follow up and closure for all issues must be documented and minutes of meeting must be sent to all stakeholders and during the start of every meeting the MoM must be reviewed.Building great relationships begins with great engagement.

Exhibiting a remarkable sales vision and a strong customer service orientation is essential for success. It is imperative to have an in-depth understanding of the characteristics and benefits of the product portfolio. Furthermore, an Account Manager must excel in active listening, not only to hear the customer but also to comprehend how his/her products can assist them in achieving their objectives or resolving their challenges.
