In GIS field, the skills should be holistic Overall Domain Knowledge: should have a proper domain knowledge in the field the person is working Hands On: The person should have Hands on on the products being used in the company Integration: should know about the integrations of GIS with SAP and other databases Coding: should have knowledge of basics

First skill is meet deadlines, so ask yourself am I on time to do my duties in a team? the second would be do your job right and do;t do your job again. After success in above sections, you are a member of team, so you could follow other achievement like define your roles, cartography of maps and use advance process.

How do we know we are doing it right? We need to know the opinion of those who are using our products. Without this information, our work may not be what is expected or needed. Therefore, as team leaders, we must seek feedback on our performance.

It is also helpful to check the skills needed for similar roles on online platform, as Linked In or others. Published articles and even posted vacancies will give you an idea about the same role in the market.

In any GIS job you have, you need to assess how you're doing when making the maps. It is best to figure out when the maps are due and what internal deadlines you can make for your self to make sure it is done. There can be some limitations such as how my own company did not have the licenses for some geoprocessing tools in ArcMap but they are actually accessible in ArcGIS pro and I could use it next time to help. I remember screwing up a few times and my supervisor helped make sure I can bounce back from my mistakes by making sure I talk more with my co-workers on what they need from the maps. It can be frustrating at times when they are not around and working remotely can be a hassle unless I copy and paste to the local drive.

I would have to say that over the years I've pushed more on spatial and non-spatial QA/QC processes compared to my peers. It's part of my workflow. I have yet to understand why people use third-party data blindly. My work has made me a decent drafter, a keen satellite photo interpreter, a modest modeler and quite a snazy cartographer. Who wouldn't want to be a GIS analyst! You're literally a jack-of-all trades.

When you look at your own work, especially in a team, it helps you understand and improve your GIS skills. Adding self-reflection to your routine is like opening a door to grow personally and professionally. Creo que una adaptación a esta nueva era de la información, donde la atención es breve, es necesaria para llegar a más gente. Por otro lado, el grado de personalización, cuando las dudas son concretas y los proyectos únicos también es crucial.

Comparing your work with industry best standards is equally important to do your work best. Because just doing the best will not give us an idea of whether the work we have done is useful to the surroundings or not. Also if we want to say our results are perfect, then we should have done benchmark testing amongst similar results which are available in your industry. For example, if you are confident enough about your pollution analysis, you should compare your existing pollution data with Indian TropMet data (in terms of Indian analysis). Then we can say your data matches with the results or better than what benchmark is providing.

I would say share your work instead of comparing. Sharing would let others learn from your experience or may be you will learn from their experience.

Intenta actualizar tus habilidades en SIG constantemente, busca oportunidades de aprendizaje continuo, como cursos en línea, talleres, seminarios o conferencias relacionadas con las últimas tecnologías y metodologías en SIG. También podrías buscar proyectos prácticos para aplicar nuevas técnicas y herramientas que encuentres o te resulten interesantes, así como colaborar con compa?eros o técnicos más experimentados para aprender de su experiencia y conocimientos. The best way to demonstrate any skill is by teaching it, and it works for GIS because when we share our GIS skills, we are making coordination and prosperity easier for the organization by using new skills for problem solving and project optimization and success and this will also lead to a better work environment where all members feel they can contribute in the organization

Projetos GIS promovem ambiente multidisciplinar exatamente por necessitarem de habilidades e conhecimentos complementares. Ao longo de minha jornada que tem mais de 2 décadas sempre aprendo novas possibilidades no uso do GIS nos mais diversos setores do mercado. Acredito que ao compreender o objetivo do projeto, compartilhar experiências e sugerir possibilidades devem fazer parte da 1a etapa para formular o.plano de projeto e distribuir as atividades para a equipe.

Na minha empresa sempre busco compartilhar as ideias novas que adquiro em GIS. Busco também saber os feedbacks positivos e negativos dessas novas ideias.

Al igual que es fundamental conocer otras tecnologías para expandir el GIS a todo tipo de soluciones, es importante dar a conocer esta tecnología tan necesaria. En este sentido, he tenido la suerte de ense?ar GIS en mi vida laboral, y es gratificante ver cómo se abren nuevos proyectos y se fomenta la creatividad de nuevas soluciones cuando la gente descubre el potencial de la herramienta. Pero no es necesario ser formador para ello. A día de hoy hay mil plataformas para divulgar sobre cualquier tema, incluido el GIS.

Experiment, self-solve, and practice. Exploration leads to discovery and that’s the most fun you can have working. Having fun with anything you do is the best for you and your team.

I think one of the ways would be asking the right questions. The quality of questions you ask, how many they are, would determine the ingenuity and professionalism that comes with the final work. You may have all the skills, knowing when to use them and how to use them comes from critical question thinking. Notice how research is about asking questions first and then finding answers to them. This in my opinion brings out the best out of you.
