Next, you need to choose the evaluation model that will guide your evaluation strategy. There are different models that can help you evaluate different aspects of the technology transfer training, such as the Kirkpatrick model, the CIPP model, the ROI model, or the Success Case Method. Each model has its own advantages and disadvantages, and you should select the one that best suits your goals, indicators, resources, and context. For example, the Kirkpatrick model evaluates the training based on four levels: reaction, learning, behavior, and results. The Kirkpatrick Model is the industry standard for program evaluation for good reason: it guides you in defining what the training or program should deliver considering four different dimensions: Level 4 Results - The degree to which targeted outcomes occur as a result of the training and the support and accountability package Level 3 Behavior - The degree to which participants apply what they learned during training when they are back on the job Level 2 Learning - The degree to which participants acquire the intended knowledge, skills, attitude, confidence, and commitment based on their participation in the training Level 1 Reaction - The degree to which participants find the training favorable, engaging, and relevant to their jobs

3 Conduct the evaluation

Then, you need to conduct the evaluation according to your chosen model and indicators. You should collect and analyze the data from different sources and methods, and compare them with the baseline or benchmark data. You should also involve both the provider and the recipient in the evaluation process, and solicit their feedback and opinions. Data collection and analysis should start during the learning intervention. Don't just collect data and hold onto it to report later. Continually analyze the data real time so you can influence what happens instead of just reporting what happened. You may discover that something isn't working the way you planned. If so, no problem. Make an adjustment based on what the data is telling you. Plan modifications are not mistakes; they are good business practice.

4 Report and communicate the results

Finally, you need to report and communicate the results of the evaluation to the relevant stakeholders, such as the provider, the recipient, the management, or the funders. You should present the results in a clear, concise, and actionable way, highlighting the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of the technology transfer training. You should also provide recommendations and suggestions for improvement, and celebrate the achievements and successes. Agree that presentations should be concise and visual. Your stakeholders do not want or need to see every piece of data you collected throughout the initiative. If they want to see that, you can provide detailed reports. Focus your report on Level 4 Results and Level 3 Behavior. Give a brief overview of Level 2 Learning and Level 1 Reaction to show the training was effective.
