It's very interesting: information security is one of those things that "business" doesn't get behind very easily. Hence, in times of prioritization, the shiny new feature pushes out the InfoSec work, which has been sitting in ToDo for months. Next thing you know, you have data breaches because you didn't prioritize InfoSec. I am not against shiny new features in any way: they are the lifeblood of the business. But we should also acknowledge that InfoSec is your business' immune system: you don't keep it up, and looming cyber threats can jump in and take advantage at any time and cause huge losses: data loss, customer loss, financial loss, legal loss, reputation loss,... the list goes on.

This is an area that can quickly get off the rails--when we wprk with clients to scope the parameters of what is expected, we have to always agree to and understand what the desired TACTICAL outcome must be to achieve success.
