I will try to summarize this section from EDA tools perspective. In order to prepare the design for tape out, you have to complete a series of signoff checks. The basic ones are geometrical DRC (design rule checks) some of them are dedicated to analog and RF applications. The second step is to satisfy electrical conditions from LVS (layout versus schematic), ERC (electrical rule check) and other reliability checks such as current density (and EMIR analysis ). The parasitic extraction usually takes place after LVS step where a post-layout netlist is extracted for advanced simulations. Finally, DFM (design for manufacturability) checks that are custom built to address advanced requirements of context-aware symmetry, net-aware fill, … etc
