I agree that the first step is to identify the bias. I believe a very strong way to identify that is to bring everyone to the table when initiating any NLP projects. Synthetic data appears to be a promising anti-bias strategy (as well as a strong data privacy and data security mechanism). Synthetic data is generated by using machine learning (ML) algorithms to create data that is similar to real-world data, however the data is somewhat altered. This deliberate alteration allows for the creation of more diverse datasets, which helps reduce AI bias in trained AI models.
