The idea of aligning your talent strategy with your business strategy is not new. The piece which may be new is the lenses through which you should align them. Much as optical systems require multiple lenses to properly align light so it can be seen in focus and in the right orientation, organizations need to use multiple lenses to align their talent and business strategies. One of the critical focusing lenses needs to be that of the employee experience - what does your talent need and want, what are their aspirations, what do they need to thrive? Failing to consider the employee experience lens when aligning your talent strategy with your business strategy will be like looking through a telescope which is missing a lens.
