Selection of the correct type of actuator for a particular application is important like high pressure pneumatic actuators are not ideal for quite operations as they tend to be noisy, hydraulic or electric actuators will be better options. Proper maintenance of the system supplying and controlling the actuator is very crucial for smooth and quite operation.Mounting,lubrication, condition of actuator, load balancing, firm power supply and close loop control system makes the difference. Systems past their economic life deserve decomissioning.

Coming from a brake systems point of view where NVH is a major issue for autonomous systems triggering Noise from the motor, it is always better to have an optimal control system. While it's a given that the right hardware, friction checks as given above are needed, optimising the control system shall aid the chiseling of the actuator operation at the right frequency. This right or resonant frequency and safely arrived at motor speeds for the given use case shall help in bringing down the NVH and let the brake motor system run at an as smooth and quiet pace as possible without at any point hampering the performance of the motor and actuators for any given requestor. I.e. autonomous braking of any kind or driver braking.
