How can you engage the public in supporting sustainable development goals?

The AWHPI GLOBAL FOUNDATION's initiatives, partnerships, and commitment are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically: 1. SDG 2: Zero Hunger - AWHPI works to end hunger, achieve food security, and promote sustainable agriculture in Africa. 2. SDG 5: Gender Equality - AWHPI empowers women and girls through education, economic empowerment, and addressing gender-based violence. 3. SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure - AWHPI supports innovative solutions, sustainable infrastructure, and industry development in Africa.

In my experience as SDG's advocate, volunteering is very important to engage the public in supporting SDGs. Work with community leaders is also a good way to raise awareness among various communities. You can also organize conferences, webinars and workshops to inform the public and advocate about global causes. last but not least, you can run a Newsletter as I do to share advancements and progress in SDG'S related fields such as Human Rights, education, Gender Equality, and more...

Share success stories: Inspire others with real-life examples of positive change. 3. Work together: Partner with businesses, NGOs, and others to find solutions. 4. Foster a culture of sustainability: Make sustainable choices the norm. By working together, we can build a thriving future for all.

Achieving sustainability starts in our communities. Learn about specific targets set in your hometown and discuss with family, friends, networks. Drive understanding by sharing news on issues like responsible consumption or climate action. Attend local events highlighting progress - meet those making a difference. Voice expectations to governments, businesses for greater transparency and accountability in reaching goals. Individual mindsets and choices steer our collective future too; conserve energy, invest responsibly, volunteer for initiatives. Small actions add up when participation is widespread. As informed, engaged citizens we contribute to flourishing, equitable communities for generations ahead.

A great way to engage stakeholders is by listening to them. This can be achieved through the materiality matrix, a tool that seeks to understand which issues are material to the organization based on the perception of prioritized audiences. After identifying areas of interest, it is possible to develop actions and programs that are more aligned with stakeholders' expectations

One thing I have found useful is having key partners you want to share your comms kit and materials with who will help publicize your event for the needed impact. Drawing a stakeholder mapping and tagging these key audiences on social media posts can never go wrong as well.

A veces es dificil saber como empezar la incidencia en materia de ODS. Sabemos que existen, y sabemos que nos falta mucho por recorrer, pero ?Por donde se empieza? Aquí algunos recursos para empezar insidencia: 1.- MGCY: El grupo mayoritario de jóvenes de la ONU es un espacio de incidencia y consulta para promover una visión intergenarcional. Checar sus redes, y convocatorias ayudan mucho para dar voz a aquellos que no tienen voz. 2.- Convocatorias a nivel local: Entidades ofrecen espacios para la incidencia desde sus instituciones, ahi también es opción. La representación de los objetivos es muy importante, por tanto, sus metas, y alcances estan dise?ados para que, incluso con solo verlas, tengamos claro el impacto que podemos hacer.

Through my experience in education regulation and corporate governance, I believe that to engage the public in supporting sustainable development goals (SDGs) involves strategic planning, collaboration, and effective communication. Here are several approaches you could consider. Use regulatory expertise to develop and implement educational programs that incorporate SDGs into the curriculum at all levels of education. By raising awareness from a young age, you can cultivate a generation that values and understands the importance of sustainability. Also facilitate partnerships that bring together the corporate sector and educational institutions to work on projects that support SDGs.

Si bien los ODS son un marco general, no son tampoco una unitalla que pueda quedar en todos los aspectos. Es por eso que recomiendo mucho proveer espacios de escucha y diálogo para poder adoptar más allá de adaptar en relación a lo que se vive desde lo local. Un marco de referencia util para esto es la gobernanza glocal. La internacionalista Frida Soto Sandoval, en su tesis "Coalición Nuevo León Abierto en la iniciativa multilateral Alianza para el Gobierno Abierto: Tejiendo interacciones glocales en la gobernanza y la participación de 2021 a 2023" menciona la importancia de la localidad como punto de partida para aspectos de carácter público. De ahí es donde nace entonces el poder del contexto para la sustentabilidad.
