How can you effectively measure the success of a conflict resolution strategy?

As the Financial Secretary of the Accounting Student Association, I successfully navigated a challenging conflict through a comprehensive resolution approach. This involved refining communication, addressing root issues, fostering positive team dynamics, utilizing feedback surveys, and continuous monitoring. The results were improved communication, resolution of core issues, a positive team environment, and valuable feedback, highlighting the effectiveness of the conflict resolution initiative. I acknowledge the broader significance of conflict resolution beyond the mentioned factors.

The outcome of a successful conflict resolution strategy depends on two factors : the way positive relationships evolve and how far has the team reached in its business objectives/KPIs. The first covers whether grievances have been addressed of both parties because of which they can work comfortably as a way forward. The other builds on the aforementioned as a successful result of resolved concerns/grievances.

Measuring success in a conflict resolution begins with all parties being accountable and responsible .. this requires us to manage emotions and focus on developing a strategy to resolve... once accountability has been accepted then the outcome of the conflict can be successful. Agreements, opportunities for growth, relationship evolvement, honesty and maintaining a focus towards the future.

Eye on the prize is always the name of the game where data and outputs emerging from the conflict resolution strategy can be so loud and clear and yet sometimes conflict resolution strategy can come in nonmeasurable cues where the discussions and meetings start to make more sense, more productive and most importantly more insightful and alignment become easier transparent. Both sides are extremely important because at the end of the day dealing with your client, stakeholders, team..etc will require a positive outcome, especially at the time of a conflict, and will also require harmony and teamwork as after all you will still be working with each other.

Newfound respect or persistent discord? This metric showcases the resolution's enduring imprint, reflecting a strategy's true success by fostering healthier, more robust relationships among team members.

this is quite normal, its listening to both sides giving decision based on current market positions of the company with alignments of cash flows, revenues, profit all together.

Whilst all of the above are needed, there is another 'key' element in measuring the success of effective conflict resolution. This is the longevity of the resolution. Conflict resolutions can be short-term measures, just to deal with the issue at hand Or these could be long-term, by addressing the root cause and finding a systemic solution, to obviate such conflicts in future. Example: suggestion from an employee, which can be implemented (short-term). Or channelising such suggestions on long-term basis, by installing a suggestion box. If there are 10 suggestions and 2 are evaluated as beneficial; in a general meeting, all the 10 should be read out (without names) with reasons of why only 2 (with names) were selected, and rewarding these.
