We first need to define what type of risk we are gauging ... i am interested in Compliance ( environmental, health/ safety and security risk) but of course there are other risks that are industry specific.. So speaking of culture may be misleading if the our team does not have an understanding of the risks and also threats facing us. So what is the risk appetite it has to do with the acceptance of "loss" , how big of a loss is the question?? conclusion: there has to be a vision for the organization and risk will be one of the ingredients depending of what kind of a cuisine we are promoting.... classical French or 21st century " anything"?

How the risk appetite & tolerance will be managed & governed must be also stated in this point. It can not be inferred or assumed as financial failures possessed both of these points in their policies & they still failed. Underestimate the people element at your peril.

how can i analyze the result of any feedback if the people to be interviewed are not the ones we assumes?? How about developing an ERM - Enterprise Risk Management framework with branches such as ESRM , the S standing for security. this would be like a tree where every risk aspect is addressed... Financial, loss prevention etc... what it would also do is make the global risk approach more integrated.. Integration is the solution , separation of issues is the problem.

This is easier said than done, especially when a global organisation may have to juggle the variety of definitions provided on the topic of risk culture by the numerous regulators and bodies of authority. Unfortunately the current thinking placed too much weight on the fact that risk are in place and that they have controls. Data needs to be enhanced around the execution of these core GRC/IRM components by the teams assigned. The evidence is clear that even failed financial organisations had green risk and control indicators quarter, after quarter. Thankfully, there different lenses available in which to look at the data.

Ahaaa... the action Plan!! for an OG like me it sounds like the 70's all over again!!! But i would agree an action plan becoming the basis for training and going forward is a sensible way of operating. May i suggest that the plan be truly practical with steps to allow for training and educating in a structured manner.
