How can you effectively evaluate a data science training program?

It's very important to check the curriculum of the data science courses. It should cover from very basic like statistics, Probability Linear Algebra to advance topics like classical Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Also we should check if course provids the theoretical as well as prectical knowledge.

I've teached over 10,000 Data Science learners past 7 years. I noticed most people ain't sure what they want from learning it. Here's how you can figure your goals: 1. Some trainings are immersive with capstone projects, and some are theoretical classes. ??The platform offering the courses included YouTube to universities across the globe, offline and online. Considering all of these, think of the objective as: - Acquire new skills - Earn credentials - Acquire knowledge essential for the job ...

Before you start ask few things, 1 What you want to learn and why? 2 How much can you spend, because good resources will definitely be costly (usually)? 3 Faculty/resources . They are key to success of any course. 4 Projects and hands-on Now create a plan to cover course by setting goals and keep tracking achievements.

Choose a Data Science program based on your goals. For basic skills, use free or affordable online resources. If transitioning from another field, an intensive, expert-led program like a reputable bootcamp can speed up your career change, despite the higher cost. I chose the latter path, and the hands-on projects, the community of students, industry projects, and the bootcamp credential played a crucial role in securing my first job.

The curriculum must be designed in such a way that the current topic is relevant to the previous one and reader is feeling the flow of the knowledge one after the other. In addition to this, it must not burden. The reader with the wealth of knowledge all at once. The topics sequence must be related and insightful. Terms used in any topic during the sequence must be clarified and must not left in the upcoming design of course. In case it is required then gist of that term must be provided and covered in detail later on.

Aside from paying attention to the depth and breadth of the curriculum, it's important to also look out for the tools and languages being taught. MATLAB, R, Python and C++ are all programming languages used by data scientists. Python is the most commonly used language. So if you see a curriculum focused on MATLAB, you may want to reconsider and ask how relevant it is to your journey. Some companies will specifically ask you to learn a particular language if that's what they use.

In the curriculum, if there is a solid space for you to understand the data science life-cycle, then it would be a good curriculum to stick to. More importantly, the following call-outs - 1. Is enough attention being given to data understanding, identifying data granularity and how the source of the data can be responsible for the kind of analytical outcomes one gets? 2. Feature engineering and feature selection should be given more time and importance than model training and validation. Even though, model training, prediction etc lures one more. Emphasis must be given to the creativity involved in feature engineering.

In my experience, most training providers have comprehensive curriculum. But, remember, you don't need to learn all of it for Data Science. What's key is knowing what skills are needed now in the job market and learning those. Basically, the biggest list of topics isn't always the best. Instead, it's better to pay more attention to the hands-on parts, like how many projects you'll do, what kinds of projects they are, and how they teach you about machine learning algorithms and such.

One of the best ways is to promote certifications within the team. Professional data science or machine learning certifications include a curriculum that has been proven in the field and ensures that certified individuals can apply the knowledge well in the field.

As someone who teaches data science, I really think that checking how good the instructors are is the key thing in seeing if a data science training program is any good. You gotta look at the instructors' real-world experience in Data Science, especially in making real business stuff happen with it. Also, see how much they've taught before because knowing a lot doesn't mean they can teach well. Lastly, watch some of their teaching videos to see if you like how they teach and if you get it.

Data science programs led by instructors with notable backgrounds, as their expertise can provide more profound insights than a program's curriculum alone. Make sure it includes key areas like data collection, cleaning, analysis, visualization, modeling, and communication.

Check and verify the professional background of the instructors. Choose the program where instructors have industrial experience.

Some ways to do that maybe by going through the LinkedIn profile/personal website of your trainer to understand him/her better. Another way can be to reach out to students who had previously enrolled in the same program, and understand their experiences.

The data science instructor should have a grip on teaching and lecture delivery skills along with industrial knowledge and experience in data science projects. To identify the best instructor, examine their real-world data projects and experiences.

Check the data science training program outcomes: 1. Review learning outcomes of each module and see if that meets your objectives. 2.How many real projects and hands-on tasks you'll do. 3. Assessments to measure your skills level. 4. Certifications that could elevate your profile. 4. Career support (if any)

your ability and skills will show how much you have learned from the course. after the completing data science course, you should have the ability to collect data, clean data, analyze data, data visualization, and data modeling, for example, you collect and clean weather data and apply forecasting models by programming language.

Checking feedback from previous students the best way to validate the training program. I suggest to spend enough time is doing online research to find genuine reviews from previous students and assess it against your objectives. If possible to contact the previous students, do send your queries directly to them and wait for response. This step truly ensures that you choice of the data training program meets your objectives

Creativity can be better exercised in feature engineering process if the data is not too exposed on the web. 3. Best practices to deal with missing data and outliers can be better exercised with real world datasets.
