Decide together how often to communicate, use an app like Jira to track tasks & check off when done. Example: Reach out to team (daily/weekly/monthly) about 'the topic at hand'. Along with clear and respectful language, clear communication of the need to receive their response is important. Clearly communicating how their lack of response is affecting the project performance and how it can hamper the growth of the team will also motivate the individuals to respond timely or express any concerns if present.

There are certain people who do not find it very easy to express themselves, are very reserved and conservative with their problems. I believe that making them comfortable around you is the first step. Only when an individual is comfortable around you that they can open up. I say this because in volunteering, different people from different places come together & perform specific duties for the same cause. These people might not have been in the same space or known themselves from anywhere but that particular program is a binding force. But because I met someone in a function or conference where I went to volunteer does not mean I'd be close to them. So it takes me being comfortable with someone to tell them what's wrong with me. ??Joan

The way this is broken down is great , but I believe it's best to sit down with team at the start & set expectations up front: 1. Ask preferred learning & communication styles 2. Set expectations on task assignments & completion dates, deadlines, time mgmt, sick days, PTO, meetings, one on ones, Breaks, Escalations, How to handle issues & Escalations, set clear expectations on how/where/when/why/how often to communicate. Outlook: reminders, Jira/task app: tasks & tracking Ex: "Communicate with team about "x" (daily/wkly/mnthly)" - set to repeat. 3. Have a shared document of standards, # of warnings & consequences, ask team to tell you if they have issues so you can help.
