Anomalies are the big problem in the data specifically when we are working on the time series because anomalies create the problems to learn the undesired patterns which cause the future predictions. By using plots and graphs, we can easily understand the patterns and then work on them to normalise.

Cleaning time-series data is crucial for accurate analysis and modeling. This involves addressing missing values, possibly through imputation or interpolation, and removing trends and seasonality to clarify inherent patterns. Ensuring stationarity, a constant statistical property over time, is also vital, possibly requiring techniques like differencing or transformation. Normalizing data aids in comparative analysis, and eliminating outliers prevents skewed interpretations. Finally, using methods like moving averages or exponential smoothing, smoothing data refines identifying relationships and patterns within the dataset.

For normally distributed random noise, simply taking a simple moving average should average away random deviations from the mean/signal. The downside to this approach is that it effectively low-pass filters away high-frequency information that might be useful. For this reason, applying a butterworth band-stop filter can be useful when the noise source has a non-uniform distribution in the signal's frequency space representation.

The way we handle missing values in time series is a bit technical as compared to other data types due it’s time factor. Deleting a value in a time series data isn’t the best option. We can impute them always. However, the imputation technique will depend on the skewness of the data. If the data has very wide variations, then imputation with the mean wouldn’t be the best. I’m such cases, we can use the median or use machine learning algorithms for the imputation.
