I used to keep a whiteboard by my desk and would often draw out my thoughts and hold it up to the camera for feedback. To a degree, it was effective, however creative a collaborative whiteboarding space really changed the game for my teams. Miro is one of my favorite tools for creating a collaborative creative space, especially in distributed teams. We can compile inspiration boards, map user journeys, design prototypes, archive project history, and collaborate in real or individual time. Finding the right tools for your team allows their skills to shine, instead of putting their effort into finding ways to communicate their ideas.

Sometimes I use Procreate on Ipad. It is a sustainable way to sketch out ideas quickly without permanence. I also find it much easier to think visually when I am in a design program, so having the ability to erase, add layers, adjust, resize, etc. really helps! It is also super convenient because once you have a great sketch you can easily save and airdrop it to your computer so that you can refine further using whatever design software you prefer.

I think using a whiteboard and sticky notes would be more helpful because these items are simply accessible and easy to use for all. You can use them during your speech and colleagues will intract with you.

There is nothing more powerful than seeing ideas on a big sheet of paper that everyone can see. Digital stuff, although amazing, can be distracting in the beginning. You also think differently with a pen or pencil than a keyboard. I suggest starting new ideas visually and analog. Later, you can evolve those ideas digitally.

It could be as simple as drawing your desired KPIs as simple charts and graphs. Then moving on to decision trees. Then detailed flow charts. Mind maps. This could be easily accomplished in a matter of days or weeks. It’s an easy primer that gets people more comfortable expressing ideas visually.
