How can you develop an evidence-based approach to exercise prescription with SFMA certification?
Exercise prescription is the process of designing and implementing an individualized exercise program based on a client's goals, needs, and abilities. But how do you know if your exercise prescription is effective, safe, and evidence-based? One way to enhance your skills and knowledge as a functional trainer is to get certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA).
The SFMA is a comprehensive system of assessing movement patterns and identifying the root causes of pain and dysfunction. It helps you to classify your clients into four categories: functional non-painful, functional painful, dysfunctional non-painful, and dysfunctional painful. Based on the results, you can then apply the appropriate corrective strategies, such as manual therapy, mobility exercises, stability exercises, or motor control exercises.
