How can you determine the best location for a power substation?

Power substation should be near load center or plant because of following factors --> 1. Less line length to minimize voltage drop and cost 2. Control or repair of any equipment in substation will become easier if it is located near load center.

If possible the substation should be located as close to the final power consumer as possible. Reduce the length of the low-tension cables, to minimize voltage drop, and Copper/Aluminium losses. Consider increasing the cable diameters or running multiple single cores to find the optimal balance between space, ease of installation, and minimal losses.

The selection of the optimal location for an electrical substation involves considering various factors, such as proximity to the load, accessibility, terrain conditions, expansion capacity, environmental restrictions, electromagnetic interferences, distance to the power supply source, space requirements, visual and social impact, climatic and environmental conditions, communication infrastructure, and natural risks, among others. Setting the scope of the project and deliverables.
