How can you design team-building agendas that promote effective communication and feedback?

Incorporating icebreaker activities into the agenda can help team members become more comfortable with one another, thus facilitating better communication. Icebreakers can range from simple get-to-know-you games to collaborative problem-solving tasks that require effective communication.

Having a clear idea of what you want to achieve and how the activities will help you achieve this is essential to success. Purpose driven activities will be more rewarding for those members of the team who are task focused and may have little motivation for seemingly pointless activities.

Keys to running a good meeting (for feedback or otherwise): - Send out an agenda well ahead of time. Include hot topics such as known recent pain points or extraordinary successes. Control the minutes, do not let this turn into a Whine and Dine. - Save a small amount of time for general discussion at the end. Ideally, the agenda includes an invitation for people to add things that aren't covered. Add them, send out the updated minutes. - Highlight the action/activity that was good/bad and not the person. This is not a blame session, its a growth session - everything is geared towards team improvement. How do we do what we did last time, but better?
