1 Choose the right type of gearbox

There are different types of gearboxes, such as spur, helical, bevel, worm, planetary, or harmonic, that have different advantages and disadvantages for high torque applications. For example, spur gears are simple and cheap, but they generate more noise and vibration than helical gears, which have angled teeth that mesh more smoothly. Bevel gears can change the direction of rotation, but they have lower efficiency than spur or helical gears. Worm gears can produce very high torque ratios, but they also have high friction and wear. Gear Ratio and Size of Gears are the most important aspects for high torque applications. The driven gear must be of larger size than the driving gear for the same. It is the basic and essential requirement for high torque apps.

Gear ratio for desired torque at rated RPM. Axial and thrust loads during stages of trasmission for berings to optimise considering mechanical properities of forged steel of gears to withstand loading creteria . Additionally hardening of teeh is done with HT for extended life.
