The "correct" sensor suite for ADAS can be determined by Cost, Performance and Suitability (like the quality triangle). E.g. LiDAR has advanced to solid state. In doing so size & cost has fallen to a point that it can now be included in vehicles (cost was prohibitive); this in part is why Tesla chose cameras (they are cheaper). Performance of either tech varies on the prevailing weather conditions, so whilst LiDAR/Camera might be "better" for an application, a cost-benefit analysis will be applied influencing what to use. OEMs' consensus is to use a layered sensor suite, to stop one tech being the ONLY tech type. This redundancy gives backup in cases of failure, and the ability to combine tech strengths and mitigate individual weaknesses.

4 Design the user interface and feedback

The fourth step is to design the user interface and feedback for the driver assistance system. The user interface is the part of the system that communicates with the user, such as displays, buttons, switches, and voice commands.
