I couldn't agree more. Everyone must understand their strengths and weaknesses. My only regret is that you relegate architecture to the appearance created. It simply symbolizes the many decisions that must be taken to lead from an inquiring client and a blank piece of paper. I cannot blame the audience. Architecture has focused on style rather than the substance of improving knowledge contribution for a very long time. They have not had a language that would permit them to measure, evaluate, and forecast the implications of shelter capacity decisions. These are the decisions that can address sprawl and excessive physical intensity. These symbolize our inability to speak in an architectural language that can correlate what we sense.

Incorperating shapes and patterns... living examples are the designs displayed by Architect Zaha Hadid. If there were no good Engineering, such project wouyld remain just dreams. In my opinion Architects and Engineers are the two sides of same coin. They stand for each other.
Gravity & other forces (pressure, tensile, twist,...) sometimes tell the designer how to use structural elements & shapes. It depends on how good the designer is in listening to them & sensing the nature of forces in that particular project. For example In many well designed dams or bridges it can be seen that how structure is formed in the orientation or against the forces, making them naturally beautiful.
In todays highly digitized design process, and now even further more so with AI, such concepts of shapes and patters, take on an entirely new level of complexity and potential. Parametric Architecture is driven by algorithms that can be driven by multiple factors, civil structures need not be an exception. Parametrics can for instance define the form and shapes that are cut out of the outer shell, if any. Lighting controlled by AI can express the movement of the structure or the forces acting upon it when it is in a state of stress or strain.
An architect’s training includes a strong focus on aesthetics, structural and civil engineers’ training focuses on structural requirements and construction costs, among others. Some of the most hideous aesthetic failures result from having engineers design civil structures. Having said that, there is a lot to be said for monolithic materials such as concrete, which have a solidity and beauty of their own.
Colors and Lighting are the key to the silent language of Architecture. No light, no shade or shadow. shades and shadows on the most appropriate coulour and texture will enhance the spatial quality of a built environment.

Human scale is the only reference to Architectural form and feel. Engineering in long span structures and thin vertical elements will always complement the human scale and Architectural designs to be more realistic and nature friendly.
The perception of man would change with no of openings within the structure. When the scale of a structure is greater than the norm it incites a feeling of inspiration and ambition. Yet there are alot of factors worth exploring through engineering and architecture. The connection of man and structure should be in tandem with his psychology, as it dictates everything around the man. Thus scale, perspective and psychology are to be explored together.
Finally, one of the best ways to design civil engineering structures that are more visually appealing is to involve the community and the stakeholders in the design process. You can solicit feedback, opinions, and preferences from the people who will use, see, or benefit from your structures, and incorporate them into your design decisions. Using local designers who knows how to interpret and maintain the culture will produce better results. Additionally, it is easy to be a critic and the layperson does not have the expertise to participate beneficially beyond surface aesthetics.
I do not totally agree on this as an individual. Architects and Engineers spent almost mininum of 7 years of Academic work to master to understand the universal norms that touches the human conciousness where an average human cant get a hold of it unless an expert explains it through his or her work in reality. Thus in my opinion, community involvemnt may not be healthy in in determining perspectives Architectural & Engineering Designs
A structure is not always something static, I had the chance to work on a structure where a big part of the building can be moved when this feature is needed. For example the Chernobyl 4th reactor is covered by a structure that has to be slid in order to join its final location.

The budget for structural design and analyses must be directly proportionate to the desired complexity often associated with a structure being appealing. Andrew M. stated it best under section 2 regarding roles. Engineers are responsible for design, analyses, and selections of the structural elements required to withstand the design loads and load combinations. If aesthetics are the driving force, the further one strays from simplicity (and things like symmetry), the more one strays from simple analyses and trends towards more complex research, model building, and testing; not to mention increases in resources, budget and schedule. When aesthetics are the driving force, the challenge is most likely associated with schedule and not budget.
