They best way I think is to have a content entity of your own. It can be anything - Blog - Newsletter - Consistent social media posts - Youtube channel. Doesn't matter the channel. It shows that you are self-motivated and work on your own + It builds your portfolio as well.

Case studies are underrated IMO. 2-3 well written case studies are more than enough to showcase ur skill, comprehension & communication style. Include: - Project Background - Work done (with process) - Results - Testing, Feedback & Implementation - Testimonial It's simpler and works better than standalone pieces crowding a folder.

Document your process. For me, I will journal my ideas as I develop them. I keep drafts, notes, observations, and whatever is relevant to that particular campaign. Of course, data helps determine just how effective your design or campaign was just be sure to select the appropriate array of data that is germane to that particular campaign -- its nice to have hard facts.

Start a project on your own: blog, newsletter, Instagram/TikTok account, it doesn't matter. Run it for at least 3 months. Along the way, document how you came up with the concept, what the target audience is, your goals for the project, and so forth. Put all that into a presentation, and there you go! Perfect way to show your process to potential employers.

Occasionally, you will have to circle back from the last step and start all over again.
