People are becoming numb to overly glossy content. A showreel showing purely the flashy end results can often leave viewers questioning what it was you or your company contributed to. I believe people increasingly want to be shown the process behind the creation - here lies the key to showcasing the other important skills in the process, like the hardware and technical aspects of a project.

Not only that, be specific and maintain intention. Demonstrate what your tools or creations do that enhance the overall content presented on the hardware itself.

Experienced professionals whom not only understand but also care about this topic will instantly recognize if the content of your showreel required heavy hardware or not. Usually when you display large scale fluid / Pyro / Soft bodies and rigid body simulation, or a mix of it all for instance in detailed fracture destruction simulations. Even though if some new tools arise to make that process flawless with consumer market type of hardware, those tasks usually require a large amount of RAM and processing. No need to mention your workflow or hardware specifications, if you care about these matters... you just know what it took to create such content.

Maybe this is for a small section in the portfolio, however I do not think it is necessary to show the workflow, but instead show projects that already imply the workflow. Showing off a workflow is mostly just a buzz question for an interview.

I disagree with this premise: no one reviewing a demo reel wants to know how you did it, other than your contribution. This level of detail is best left for the interview level, and even then, only if it's asked about.

En general, todo artista 3D tiene un conocimiento claro y al menos esencial de las configuraciones y necesidades de hardware que son necesarias para trabajar en su ramo específico, ya sea modelado, VFX, generalista entre otros. Por lo que estos conocimientos de configuración técnicos pueden verse en los estilos y flujo de trabajo que aplique el artista en su reel, además de las técnicas visuales que muestre. Pero en mi opinión, es irrelevante mostrar aspectos técnicos de configuración de hardwares / softwares salvo si la empresa interesada lo solicite ya que busca algo mas especifico a un artista 3D , como un coordinador de renderizado para un equipo audiovisual o para una granja de render o en puestos más técnicos.
