As an executive who both gives and receives strategic advice, I can tell you it is vital to know how your audience wants to receive that advice and how they will understand it when you deliver it. For executive management to hear you, they need to know what's in it for them, what's in it for you, what's in it for the organization, and finally what they can specifically do with the advice. All of that in language and terms they are familiar with. If you are technical and they are not, then speak in non-technical equivalents of what you want to convey. The reverse is true if you are speaking to technical executives. Find the right blend and go from there.

2 Focus on the value proposition

Executive management is often busy, impatient, and results-oriented. They want to know the bottom line: what is the value of your strategic advice and how will it help them achieve their objectives? Therefore, you need to focus on the value proposition of your recommendations. Explain the benefits, outcomes, and impact of your strategic advice in clear and quantifiable terms.
