In my experience, audience engagement increases with interactive meetings. I use polls to achieve this interaction and reinforce the the topic discussed. Polls can be used to gain valuable information on your audience, test comprehension of the information delivered, and break-up meetings with tedious information.

One creative engagement strategy I have used in webinars is suggesting a background theme for participants, keep in mind this feature only works in Zoom meetings when planning your event, Google Meet does not yet support this feature.

If your presentation is on email management tools, you might ask a question such as "if you had 3 extra hours every week to do whatever you wanted, what would it be?" Throughout the presentation you might share stats on how much time saving each tool offers, and then at the end, you can add up the total savings presented and ask them how they really want to spend their time.

I agree. An important consideration when engaging audiences is the technological expertise that the audience has. It can sometimes be cumbersome for certain audiences to participate more actively due to lack of familiarity with the meeting technology. In some cases I have seen presenters send information sheets to prepare audiences prior to sessions, especially in settings where the audience is large and their participation is crucial to presentations. If this is not properly done, the entire exercise may take a much longer period of time, or stall completely, which may embarrass presenters.

Delivering an engaging webinar requires some best practices and tips. Start and end on time to respect your participants' time and schedule.
