How can you delegate tasks to improve employee productivity and motivation?

Instead of seeking approval at the end of a proposal, pre-approve it. ie, approve the solution before they have thought of it. I'm not talking about complete freedom, but about freedom within guidelines. We did it on our web site. We had a branding exercise to start, we agreed the key metrics (how many people viewed and how munch income was generated) and we insisted Jonny talk to our clients. When I saw that web site the night before it launched, I wasn't that keen. But it was completely within the guidelines so up it went. When we got the metrics a month or two later, views had tripled and income had doubled. Even without the benefit of my expertise.

The best client I ever had only ever asked me one question. ‘Is there anything you need from me?’ Unless you run a very simple operation your employees should be in their position because they have the skills and capabilities needed to deliver outcomes you likely cannot do. It is not delegation … it is about building the right team to deliver. That is the skill you hopefully have to lead your business - if not then bring someone in who has that skill and find the place in your team that matches your skills.

Completely agree . Entrepreneurs should learn to delegate and create a second line of management with complete autonomy. Delegation helps to foster a culture where employees feel empowered and are enthused to give their best to an organisation that they consider their " own"..

Delegation is important to take your mind off the tasks that don't require your constant attention. Imagine yourself being good with closing clients on sales calls. So why go with the trouble of fixing up those calls? Hire someone Let them fix up those calls Nail every sales call with your strategies Here, you not only free up your time, but you also make it way too easy to develop your craft better.

Delegating Task will provide Motivation and Morale to the Employees and build confidence and play their Role effectively. Also it will improve their presence in means of Value Addition or Value proposition to the Organisation. Later the Employees itself will come forward and take more responsibilities. This is One side of the employee perspective. From Employer perspective, once the task is divided into Various WBS and assiged, they can able to focus on the New Organisational Initiatives. That way they will focus on New Value added items like automation and Process Standardisation or creating Knowledge bank using AI and ML RPA tools & Hence Always delegating the Task is good for the organisation Growth which will result in Nation's Growth

Have a contrarion view to some of the points mentioned above. A difficult task would challenge the team and help them work on finding a solution to the problem..Out of the box thinking helps in such situations. Engaged employees would deliver results regardless of the nature of task delegated to them. Hence it would be important to delegate tasks based on criticality ( value and time) to nurture talent who would be able to navigate even the most complex problems !!

We need to provide the Support to the respective person by the way of appropriate training and identify the skill set of that individual and mentor them by giving simple task to slightly difficult tasks like a mock drill which we are doing for fire safety requirements, same way develop their skills and build confidence and make the individual to sustainable and take the ownership. It's like a training a person cycling we need to back up them initially by holding the hands both cycle and individual and at one point of time holding only cycle later removing the hands from both from cycle and from individual...that's how we can improve the confidence and develop an individual to play independently & person becomes reliable and trustworthy??

The task should be in the domain on knowledge and skills of the employees and it should be not too easy and require some extra effort to learn and grow.

Selecting the right employees to delegate tasks to is a crucial decision for effective management. It's essential to consider their willingness and readiness to assume added responsibilities. Forced delegation is not ideal; it should be a voluntary and enthusiastic choice. If you really want your team to take ownership and be motivated, don't delegate tasks. Delegate responsibilities and let them own the process.

Explain the spec of the task, the time frame and criteria for having the task complete. Do not prescribe how to do the job or micromanage.

Ask first for a plan of the solution, making sure the tools, the technologies are coherent with the rest of the organisation. Have a regular meetings to monitor the progress of the task and the challenges.
