It’s impossible to create a sense of fantasy if you don’t have a fantasy in mind. But be careful to not define your idea too solidly or else you could fall into the trap of telling the viewer too much, showing them more than they need to see. There is a misty, vague familiarity that needs to be achieved, combined with an uncertainty teased in a manner that gives the intended audience the space to fill in the gaps for themselves. At least for the time being. Fantasy is airy, yet relatable, distant but close at hand. At least, that is fantasy to me. Find that sweet spot in your design and learn to use it to its full potential.
