How can you create interactive LMS professional development sessions?

Selecting an LMS should be grounded in a shared governance process. Teaching and learning, it can be argued, is the core process of a learning organization. The LMS is a key tool in that process. Failure to bring faculty voice into a selection process early on is planning to fail. They will have insights and expertise well beyond what one might imagine in terms of technical, accessibility, and user requirements.

Determine what “interaction” means? I’ve seen people call “click to reveal” interactive, but is that really (in many cases, it isn’t—there are useful cases, but it’s not inherently meaningful)? Is a discussion board going to add real interaction? I’ve seen it do so in cohorts and community spaces where actual social learning happens, and I’ve seen it be rubbish (post and reply to 2 robotically). Is a game or simulation useful? You could use plug-ins or sometimes you can use JavaScript embedded. But will it add anything? Know what your LMS does well inherently (some have good peer feedback tools, and some don’t, for instance) and know what plugins can support, but also don’t lose sight of what interaction you actually want and why!

Use polls and surveys to gather feedback and assess the effectiveness of the session. Adjust content based on participant responses.Establish a continuous feedback loop to improve future sessions. Encourage participants to provide feedback on the content and format.

I find that one of the most important aspects is choosing a LMS that is user-friendly, self-explanatory and intuitive in use - both for the teacher and the learner. You need a quick win when onboarding. If there is any frustration involved on either side, roll-out in your learning environment won′t be successfull.

As it is with anything that is needed to support the learning of the students, this is a tool that needs to be selected with great care. Study the tools in the market, and compare their functionality with the goals of your teaching and learning - usually, and unfortunately individuals might look at the cost, the higher the cost the higher the dependability but this is not the case, and there is a need to conduct your research prior to settling on one of the tools - it needs to be suitable to your needs and the students needs - able to absorb the contents and run the activities efficiently and effectively - also you need to keep on evaluating your needs with the ongoing development to this system, and if it does not meet disregard/upgrade

A mí me ha resultado crear cursos incluyendo la gamificación. Que vean los contenidos como una necesidad de aprendizaje para luego pasar retos en un roomscape es formidable. I usually teach in a flexible format with some students attending class in person and some via zoom! I use my own computer to log onto zoom which allows me to show web pages, video content, word as a white board as well as excel to show budgetary impacts.

Planning LMS sessions starts with the design of the course and activities. Ensure that the course layout is user friendly, easy to navigate and provides guidance to students. We need to think about how learners really internalize, synthesize and communicate what they are learning. Interaction should include taking learning beyond the platform and into the real world with other people… How can we build human to human interaction (or near human interaction with ai ??to replicate that interaction) into course design in LMSs etc so learners are applying, reflecting on, adapting, experimenting with, and relating their learning.

Facilitation in an LMS scenario can also mean the layout of the content. The longer the content, the harder it can be to engage. Chunking content is very helpful from student feedback in courses, and the same should apply to professional development settings.

To make your learners to be motivated and engaged throughout the learning process, share clear and concise instructions along with expectations from them at beginning and also keep sharing them with during the progression as well. As you can monitor learner's progression over LMS, reach out to those who are lagging behind in the progression and help & guide them with various means to keep at optimum level with respect to their peers.

Promote active participation by setting clear guidelines for discussions, assignments, and group collaborations. Encourage peer interaction through forums, live chats, or virtual meetings. Use multimedia elements strategically to enhance understanding and retention. Provide timely feedback to foster continuous improvement and motivation. Além de avaliar as ferramentas e formata??es escolhidas, seja com pesquisa ou NPS ao fim de uma jornada, n?o podemos esquecer de medir os dados analíticos básicos: tempo de uso, usos únicos, acesso sem uso, tipos de intera??o adotados em cada uso (análise qualitativa), momento de acesso (ao fim de uma sess?o anterior, por exemplo), e por aí vai.

Even with the best content available, the learners might be still struggling to grasp on what they have learned. Although we would like to encourage them to interact in English, providing some subtitles where necessary would help them a great deal to understand important points in the lessons.
