These days I'd record the script to an MP3, stick on my wirelesss headphones and use Metahuman Animator with an iPhone. You can't beat the micro-movements of a real human face, so digitizing that for purpose, now it can be done with consumer appliances, is the way to go.

Each emotion has at least 2 to 3 variants to it. So first studying the anatomy and muscles helps less than knowing the emotions the script has in it.
