How can you create an effective call-to-action for your podcast or video?

Treat your audience like church on Sunday: with call and response. With every video & every post, solicit responses from the crowd. Listen to their answers. And then call out again. This will help you learn what they want from you & what you can lean into.

Tie your CTA to a Call to Value of what your audience wants. So don't say: 'Sign up for my newsletter.' Instead offer posession phrases like: ? Start your ? Own your ? Join your ? Get your... and then finish with a Call to Value like: ?? Business growth blueprint ?? Profitable content marketing plan ?? Video Content to client system that never sleeps

Come up with a 'Why buy now' statement that isn't based on false scarcity but is following a trend in your industry. Share your insight on what you see (that they may not be seeing) so that in order to avoid the consequences of not acting now (such as a change that they don't adapt to) they should follow your CTA

On this one: audio podcast ads tend to be there longer-term, particuarly the "baked in" kind: our AdRip technology can remove them and replace them when they expire, but many advertisers leave them in permanently. (Tip: avid podcast listeners also binge through a show's back catalogue, so it's worth taking out cheaper inserted ads on that as well as your host reads to back up your main push.) If there is a timed offer you want to push, specify the date - and the added benefit the listener will get if they comply (eg: "and if you sign up before 25th September, you'll get an added 20% off your total cart".)

There can be 3 elements to adding incentie into your call to action that you can weave in throughout your video or podcast: 1. Call to Adventure: this is the mission that you're on, the things you believe in, the change you want to make - so that you're calling to the people who believe the same things that you do. 2. Call to Arms: this is where you plant your banner, name your quest, and ask your audience to put their boots on & follow you 3. Call to Action: Now they're all inspired & ready to march, you can give a specific action for them to take.

While you can't measure click through rate on an audio-only podcast (they don't have anywhere to click...) consider using specialist tools like Chartable that directly measure conversions. You might also want to look at how similar brands in your field work, and which shows they're working with. If you or your agency can get access to a tool called Magellan.AI, you'll be able to see who's putting money where and hear clips of reads. It's not an exact rule of thumb, but if you see a brand coming back to work with a show or genre every few weeks or months, it's working. Bear in mind also that pod listeners are subscribers - so if you keep going to the same show too often, you'll hit the same audience over and over. Move your money around!

When you're writing a script, you want to reflect your brand and tone, but... ...the voices the audience trusts are the hosts introducing them to your product. So while you want them to hit your marks, give them room to use their style. It's what you're paying them for! - give them a list of, say, nine talking points, and let them choose three that their audience will warm to. - let them do it in the way that their audience appreciate, even if it means some gentle, brand approved jokes. (VERY effective.) - if there's anything to read verbatim - slogans, key benefits, or legals - clearly specify that in the script. - don't be afraid to ask for airchecks - upfront copies - and ask for reasonable changes. (But don't kibitz over every word.)
