I've always found that going Native is the best option when you are working on bleeding edge innovation. Having full access to every corner of the hardware gives you performance and flexibility that cross-platform frameworks simply can't match. Of course the big downside is having to code everything twice (for iOS and Android) but in some cases it just makes more sense. If you are pushing the hardware to its limits with a truly novel application, stick with native code.

If cost is a concern (isn't it always?) cross-platform frameworks are a no-brainer. At my agency we transitioned to pretty much 100% React Native due to clients not wanting to code their app twice (iOS and Android) and to be honest, why would they? Of course it's never as simple as just coding once and having the app magically work on all devices. Inevitably, there will always be a bit of native coding required to get the app to perform well on each platform but the cost saving is still huge.
