In this agile world it's necessary to understand the big picture, in this case the architecture. Because if you don't defined a proper test strategy, you'll wasted a lot of time testing innecesary scenarios and for sure duplicate the effort. Eventually the QA team will be bornout and ineffective.

Majority of the time is lost in ping pong between Dev & QA leading to unnecessary delays and conflicts.
