For instance, if we are getting data from an API over HTTP/HTTPs (RESTFul) then preferably it is JSON. For SOAP based API it is mostly XML. Furthermore if the data is coming from external system which does not have API then you will most likely have files and it depends if the file is structured or unstructured. If it is structured then it can be CSV, or any other kind of delimited file. For unstructured file we need to convert that file into structured one before taking it into consideration for automation to avoid unhandled errors and exceptions.
