How can you build strong relationships with other departments as a database administrator leader?

In every relationship focus on being the better version of what you want from others, it always come back, has worked for me so far. - Be a good human being (have empathy and be trust worthy...) - Be good at your work and like doing it. - Build consensus, don't try to impose your opinion on others. - One particular trick that works for me is to be the solution as much as I can. If anything can be solved at my level I ensure I own it and provide the solution and not shift it on other who may possibly also solve it but maybe with more difficulties. - Innovate, find what people's pain points are and help fix it if you can.

By working together on a mutual goal/project ad be consistent and trustworthy. Understanding needs is an ongoing and dynamic process. When problem is clearly defined building solution and relation becomes a trivial job. Output from some departments that can be an input in another department is identified, data sharing and dependencies are clear and building relationships amongst schemes, constraints, inheritances that will lead to productivity becomes a work in the pack.

It would be great to have a face to face meeting in order to allow other departments to know you, if impossible a virtual first meeting would be nice just to establish the body language and when they receive the emails and or telephone calls, the relationship has been established. I agree that one should listen to understand not to respond and force your opinion to the other departments without giving them a chance to explain to you what they want. Feedback loop is critical and help build trust and confidence on the expected output.
