Open mindset : The thought process must be clear for a two way communication so that both parties can contribute. 2. Collaboration : Indeed a powerful technique to allow others participation, thereby boosting and improving professional understanding irrespective of age,experience,exposure etc. Inculcating a feeling of making every idea count and heard, makes a team more cohesive and improve professional bond. 3. Active listening : It helps in establishing direct connect with other party, thereby respecting the opinion which eventually helps in maintaining conducive positive relationships.

Start by recognizing you have unconscious bias built into your DNA. Be curious. Be self-aware. Ask for feedback and be open to the fact that it may be uncomfortable at times. Painfully so. Growth comes from discomfort. Embrace it and learn. 1. Be open-minded and embrace diversity. 2. Practice active listening: listen to learn, not seeking to respond. 3. Look for shared interests. 4. Keep learning, always! 5. Communicate effectively. 6. Collaborate. 7. Embrace mentorship and reverse mentorship’s. This is a big one! Peer to peer and from your direct reports if you are in a leadership role. You will need to create a genuinely psychologically safe space for them to do so. This will be crunchy! You may not like what you hear and that’s okay.

Just pay attention to people. It is really important to WANT to know your colleagues, no matter their age, interests or challenges. Empathize and choose to be pro-active. Cancel your fear of being wrong and learn to LEARN. I ask myself everyday "What can I learn from this person, today?" The feedback never ceases to surprise me!

I completely agree, mixing fun into our work relationships, especially with colleagues from different generations, makes such a difference.
