How can you build a professional network for Analytical Skills?

1. Identify your target network: Determine the specific industries, organizations or professional groups related to analytical skills that you want to connect with. 2. Attend industry events: Actively participate in conferences related to your field to meet like-minded professionals. 3. Join online forums and communities: Engage in relevant online platforms and forums. 4. Collaborate on projects: Collaborate with others in your field fostering connections and showcasing your skills. 5. Leverage social media: Use platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram to connect with industry experts and engage in meaningful conversations. 6. Volunteer or mentor: Give back to your professional community by offering your expertise or mentoring.

One thing i have found helpful is intentionality! It's very important to be clear about your intentions before embarking on networking drives. For example, i was very intentional about my pursuit of ALX program through which i earned my FMVA certification with Corporate Finance Institute (CFI). I have met various professionals on these platforms, and values have been exchanged at intervals. Hence, it's important to be intentional so as not to get discouraged easily, also be clear about the purpose for your pursuit. Cheers!

What has helped me always is asking these 3 questions: 1. What can I give? (Networking is a 2-way street, you shouldn't just expect taking someone's time without giving something in return. Plus, it helps refelect on how many skills & knowledge you already have and can share with others) 2. What do I want to learn? (a new skill or maybe I have a gap in knowledge I want to fill in, or maybe I want to learn about working in a specific industry I have never had experience with before) 3. Who can help me do that? (And after you understand, what you are good at, and what are the gaps, you start looking for a person, who already has the knowledge & experience in this area of expertise)

Setting specific and realistic goals will help you channel your networking efforts effectively, connecting with the right individuals and engaging in relevant events. Remember to keep in touch with other professionals and recruiters in a "not so narrow-minded way" remember they are humans too.

My goals are to: 1. Help people by providing them with accurate and informative answers to their questions. 2. Be a creative and helpful language model that can generate different creative text formats, like poems, code, scripts, musical pieces, email, letters, etc. 3. Continuously learn and improve my abilities so that I can better serve my users. 4. Become a valuable tool for people in all walks of life, helping them to learn, create, and be more productive.

To stay informed and up-to-date in the finance and data industry, I will utilize online platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs, podcasts, newsletters), explore industry-specific publications, reports, and events, and listen to podcasts (Money Talks, McKinsey).

I found Linkedin to be an amazing tool for researching the 'Top voices' in my area of expertise, through keywords, courses and publications. And once you follow & engage with one, you'll immediately gain access to their waste network of other professionals with similar interests. To be aware of the industry news & trends, I usually subscribe to certain newsletters & portals (finding them simply through google search), then you get all the news delivered to your mailbox daily or weekly.

Agree and very well said. Take a good hard look at your existing connections as well. What work have you already done? Do you have existing connections in certain areas or industries that are strong enough to elevate you to the next level/get you to that goal? Of course, with all this in mind, we are always networking. The idea that one is attending a "networking" event is misleading. Networking events are specific, targeted, key areas of interest and attendees are usually all from a similar industry or background which is very beneficial in aiding a set of select goals. Everyone we meet or come in contact with professionally could be a potential client/ opportunity. One should always remain current and relevant.

I found helpful joining the professional club in my city. In my case it is a Marketing Club, where such topics as Marketing Analytics or AI are often discussed. Since events are organized almost every week, and also the external participants can join them, it's an endless opportunity for new connections, learning and exchange.

This is so important and so far to easy to simply miss. Establishing a presence in your industry is truly invaluable. Whether it be networking events, conferences or online workshops, be present and be visible! Be sure to follow up with your new contacts too. You worked hard to build your network, don't forget to maintain it.

I find creating content on Linkedin very rewarding, not only for attracting leads, but also building a community of professionals interested in the same topic & sharing the same values.

I do believe this is true with conditions, if you share something as an expert you will need to be able to back it up, there is a lot of content or contribution which lacks quality and or experience to back it, this can impact you negatively as well.

Being a naturally shy person and battling imposter syndrome made it initially challenging for me to share my content online. However, I soon realized that sharing online is a valuable way to receive feedback and expand my network.

Build and maintain relationships as a friendly person, don't be into the "always be selling" thing, that may "kill" your relationships, remember that they are human, not "costumer 116237". Send articles, share knowledge, you can even share memes if appropiate, but remember to always stay ready to help and jump in onto new opportunities, sometimes is more productive to understand your network as a friendly group.

Researchers, students, and other experts in your field will seek you after reading the papers that further build your network.
