Open conversations and curiosity questions, grounded with some homework, always help in gathering a lot of perspectives about different people & their career journeys. However, it is critical that we are clear about the area in which we are seeking mentoring, so that we can articulate with precision about our expectations. Also, as much as we seek out the people who have been most successful in the new ecosystem, we should also gather insights from those who might not have been as successful - as this gives us hints on dos' and donts' in the new ecosystem.
