Building and maintaining professional relationships during business travel is vital for success. Before the trip, research and reach out to contacts, plan networking events, and attend industry gatherings. During the trip, be approachable, attend social functions, schedule one-on-one meetings, and exchange contact information. After the trip, follow up with personalized emails, connect on social media, provide value, and maintain regular communication. Plan future meetings, attend industry events together, and seek feedback for ongoing collaboration. Consistency, authenticity, and mutual engagement are key to effective relationship building.

This one is especially my favorite. If you travel frequently with your boss on location, always show appreciation to the front desk staff who check you in. Because it's rare for front desk employees to get a tip, showing a little appreciation for their efforts goes a long way. Give them a tip. At a minimum, you will get the best room in your room category (like a larger corner room with a view). At best, you will get a free upgrade to the next room category.
