How can you boost your credibility as a life coach with public speaking and media?

First thing is to have the clear perspective of being selfless in communication with others or talking to social media on any topic of public interest. Then, thinking 360 degree for a point raised from community prior to giving any voice outside. thirdly, brings the positives of the topic so that people get connected to a right cause. Fourthly, take the cons of the topic to the people around so that they can understand if they do things in a wrong fashion or purpose. Cover the topic as complete as possible and keep the mind open for the queries raised... If all of these things are taken care of, then the public speaking and media presence can definitely make a big change to the audience, and one should definitely do the same.

The basic aspect of public speaking should include two things. Clarity and ease. The person who desires to present ideas should have thorough clarity on the subject and then only if he speaks would amount to his ideas rather than borrowed one. For ease of communication it's important to have command over language. The basics of it and more.

Collaborations are a big deal in this competitive environment. Audio events such as LinkedIn audio and Clubhouse are a quick, easy and free. They may not reach wide audiences in the beginning but consistency can definitely add value and eventually grow to larger audiences.

Places like co-working spots can be a way to start doing presentations. Just remember to keep it relevant. It's not about showing off what you know, but about giving a new angle or idea that can help the people there.

I started with Business networking meetings - the one minute introduction that one days was the first challenge. Refining and honing that. Next was taking 5-10 minute speaking slots where I could add value to the audience in some way using my expertise. That created some visibility that led to other speaking opportunities.

PRACTICE in front of other people. This is the most valuable thing you can do to prepare for public speaking or other media appearances. Learn to use emotions and story telling in your public speaking. There's a reason why the popular saying is that the human brain is wired for story. Lastly, choose ONE point you want the audience to come away with. Make sure everything else in your presentation supports that point. Put your presentation together, and then practice. Refine. Practice. Present. Refine. Present again. Nothing has contributed to my growth as a public speaker more than actually putting in the hours on stage in front of an audience. Gauge their reactions. Is that what you were going for? Keep refining.

I've been on media several times, and this is one of my cheeky secrets. I'm a body language expert, and I'm invited to comment on the body language of high-level diplomats Live on TV. I will prepare interesting information about them, and somehow when the camera shines on me, I will eventually guide the conversation to share well-rehearsed narratives that will shine in front of the camera.

A fundamental guideline is this: If you find the preparation of your presentation dull, chances are it will come across as boring too.

- Focus on delivering value. - Formulate your speech - pointers, bullet points, structure, actual speech ... even if you don't deliver verbatim. - Practice ... Practice ... Practice ... - have a look at the venue in advance - find a bit about the audience and customize - dress smartly, professionally and comfortably - Right before the speech, talk to a loved one :) and take a minute to relive the happiest memory of your life - HAVE FUN on the stage while speaking. Make 'having fun' a prime objective while speaking (unless its a very very sad/serious topic)

A couple of things .. 1) speak your truth, not someone else's script. I call it truth-speak. Its the energy that comes out of your core and with which you provide valuable insight to your client. 2) The depth of your listening. You tune out all the noise within as well as outside, AND the noise your client unconsciously creates. Cut through into the essence of the matter. 3) if truth-speak & listen-deep are wings, paying attention is the tail. How you focus on the 1 degree that matters while it keeps shifting. 4) the quality of your response --> Is it the truth? Is it necessary to speak it out? will it get the client to see for themselves the action they MUST take? 5) are you leaving the client more energized than when you started?

Know your audience and stay connected with the throughout your presentation. Be authentic in your delivery and speak from passion.

Every public appearance is an Image building exercise in itself. Once you have put yourself out there in public, you are constantly being observed. You will have to become careful about what you do, what you say, whom do you associate with, what ideology you support - everything comes under a scanner. And with social media, nothing is forgotten. Everything you have 'said online' is searchable and retrievable. So take care and be careful :) I am not saying Don't Be Yourself ! All I am saying is that don't do/say anything online that you don't want to be part of your public image

In this decade where information comes fast and furious. One of the Mistakes that many speakers do is continuously being very long-winded. So learn how to get your point across succinctly. Do not attempt to share everything you know.

Life Coaching faces a branding issue. Currently, anyone giving a presentation can label themselves as a "life coach." Remember to focus on raising awareness about the significance of Life Coaching certifications and standards. You are the initial representatives of the field. Make sure to address any misunderstandings people might have.
