Keep current on technology, it changes as does bed practices.

Code formatting, every developer has a preference on indentation. Use tables and bit spaces. File size is smaller and every editor (not notepad) supports setting the nbr of spaces equal a tab. Each team member can adjust their IDE of choice the size of a tab 2 or 10 space it represents. This provides indentation consistency across editors and is set at coder preference. VS code is free and has extensions for just about ever thing. Leveraging tools like csslint, jslint and other validation tools and their settings should be consistent across a team. Version control like SVN or GIT is critical for a team.

Consistency is an important factor in determining the quality of web application code, but it isn't the only one. There are times when following the rules strictly may not be the best option. As team leader, be open to ideas from your team. As best practices evolve, work to as appropriate. And at times you just need to. E pragmatic. The solution doesn’t doesn’t follow you guidelines, but meets the business needs for the due date. We typically put comments in the code. Once it goes live, we put it on our backlog to review again when we have capacity. Businesses requirements other Chang during development. Based on experience we try to anticipate possible changes and also think about 1, 2, 5 years ahead and determine what should be developed as a configuration to prepared for requirement changes, management changes or reorganizations.

Develop good relationships with key stakeholders and the business partners that you will be interacting with primarily. Try to engage a core set of individuals who are SMEs early on. Provide early access to get feedback that may help them realize things they didn’t think of as part of requirements or business requirements have changed. Be open to the feedback. It is much easier for them to “rip” it apart once they able to see an app in action than it is for them to foresee exactly what they want when they is nothing that they can kick the tires on. Maintain open communication with them and try to be as transparent as possible depending on the relationship and trust you’ve built. .
