Begin with the end in mind. Begin with the why. Those are some of the things that can definitely guide team mindset towards purpose-driven initiatives and activities. One needs to lead with a destination in mind. Choose to use a compass instead of a map. For a compass won't get you lost as long as you know which direction to keep. A map may work for some but no two journeys are the same.

This not only means for your team but for your leaders and self. Embodying a culture of adaptablility, communication and respect means living it, leading by example. This also means not focusing on being right, but learning a better way. Too many leaders focus on what they know, not how knowledge is applied, tested, and adapted when it's not robust enough. Knowledge requires humility and overcoming where and when needed. This all builds resillience and confidence in the content learned during team building exercises.

Teams are about listening, and emphasizing the autonomy and vision of others. In a team scenario you may be the ideator, and maybe 90% + of the team's ideas are yours - that may be okay, but if that is the case you, as ideator, need to really spend a lot of time listening because ideators spawn both very good and very bad ideas. Your team will help you to distinguish the difference. Jamming favourite ideas forward despite your team will sow discord, disconnection, poor results and lead to planning for ineffective paths. Maybe your team is a more evenly balanced group of 5 people. In this situation I'd be listening (...4/5) 80% talking (1/5) 20% or less. Probably lower - we don't want someone on our team permanently talking - work to do!
