Testing software isn't as simple as it sounds. While some think it's just clicking around, it's much more. To do it well, you need to understand the software's purpose and who will use it. You also need to learn how to use testing tools properly. Anyone can learn to test, but it takes practice to be good at it. Testers must stay organized and communicate well with their team. It's not easy, but with effort, anyone can become a skilled tester. Remember, it's about more than just finding bugs, it's about making software better for everyone, so understanding the application plays a key role in making you a good tester!!!

Avoiding common misconceptions about software testing requires Learning and training, communication, and a clear understanding of the testing process. Here are some strategies to help: 1) Have more training programmes, 2) encourage open, transparent and timely communication. 3) clearly set roles and responsibilities, basically SMART Goals, and provide timely feedback. 4) Test at every phase of SDLC 5) continuous automation 6) set phase gates and validate strictly for delivery excellence

Testing is easy! I prefer another approach, using the right mindset in our companies; everyone can help us test correctly. Rephrasing that sounds pretentious. Don't get me wrong, every role or activity is essential, saying that, as QAs, we need to facilitate the proper mechanisms to make Testing visible and why it is necessary to all to Test with us. Everyone can help us to test; testing is enjoyable.

That's all folks, don't spend your time with tests I heard that once time in a project after production rollout I think everyone could imagine the result, 60% of the features are broken from prod environment. I make sure to keep my team members up to date with the latest test tools and technologies. I am confident that this led to continuous improvement in the testing process. Moreover, most of them knew well about this misconception of replacing manual testing with automation. Manual testing is the sole factor that plays a crucial role in exploratory testing.

Automation is mainly helpful in the regression areas or applications which have been used for a long time. Any newly built application is prone to a lot of changes and investing in the automated suites for such dynamically changing applications might not be feasible. Hence manual testing takes a major role in such apps .

100 % automation is possible is one of the very common misconceptions. On 1 click everything will be tested and I will get the dashboard result is what top management thinks and that's why they are not ready to invest in a testing team.

Other misconceptions are: 1. Testing is just manual testing 2. Anyone and everyone can do testing (there is no specific skills needed) 3. It’s testing - “one shoe fits all” (in reality - testing varies based on the application we are testing, the type of testing needed based on functional and non functional requirements, there is a plan & strategy around it etc) 4. Testing is outside of SDLC (in reality, it’s part of SDLC. The QA team is inclusive part of the project team and in many organisations is part of the software/application being developed)

Quality assurance is ensured product and service as per defined standards. Software Testing is not the same as quality assurance. In short testing is concerned with finding and fixing defects, while QA is about preventing defects through the establishment of processes, standards, and continuous improvement efforts. Testing can find defects and quality assurance establishes long term quality improvement. Quality assurance focuses on product and customer satisfaction.

Quality is not just QA team responsibility - it's whole team and company responsibility. Therefore, in every stage and phase, QA representative should be involved, to make sure that the quality standards are met.

An illusion that Testing can be done by Developers alone and no QA is required, a developer can not find the bugs written by the code himself, I would rather appreciate pair programming by doing collaborative effort where both Dev and QA sit together and do the coding so that QA can avoid the duplication effort of redoing the Unit tests in their automated tests which were already covered by Dev during their unit tests
