In our experience, pas a measure of earning potential rather than the value of the role to the employer. Qualifications do not necessarily determine what you can expect to earn - for example you may have a PHD, and be applying for a role as a driver. The organisation will not be paying you for your PHD, but for the role of a driver. Research market rates for similar roles in the same industry and location as the role you are applying for as use this as a guide. It is important to be realistic, otherwise you may be wasting your own time and the interviewers time.
