These tools help to promote continuous training, the professional development of employees, and promote internal communication, which fosters organizational culture.

Selecting the appropriate internet channels for internal communications is essential if you want to communicate with staff members, share information, and create a feeling of community. Different platforms serve different purposes and preferences, thus it's important to take into account elements like communication style, audience size, and location.

We currently have five generations in the workforce. Only two of them are digital natives. That means you won't have one online platform to reach them all. Study your audiences, diversify your channel mix and meet your targets where they are.

It's important to be thoughtful when selecting the channels. Just because a channel exists doesn't mean it is used or effective. Survey your audience to understand how they consume information and who they trust. Tailor your channel decisions to deliver very specific experiences.

In my experience so long as leaders are briefed and familiar with the company goals, they’ll be better suited to achieve said goals and encourage and guid others to also work to achieve them. You can’t expect junior staff to make gains if senior staff isn’t in the know. Transparency, communication and collaboration is critical.

Defining goals is certainly a main step / critical step. However overall the organizational structure needs to insert internal communications or a communications expert and strategy into their overarching goals and strategies first. Without this alignment and opportunity for communication professional to have a voice- defining a goal will not have the same impact without a stakeholder endorsement or participation.

I agree but in my experience it is very important that employees are able to relate to those goals. As a communicator we need to understand that whatever channel we use the content should excite and empower employees to work towards the organisation’s goals.

This could push staff further away from the platform and lessen its relevance. Be deliberate about what should be shared virtually and what MUST be shared verbally through a meeting, because sometimes staff need to feel physically connected to the message before they can execute.

Don't try to force everything onto your platform. Focus on making your platform authoritative and on putting it at the center of your business, even if it means some communication activities have to take place elsewhere. Credibility is more important than control. This is an approach that will save you time and bandwidth.
