I've always found that those open to coaching while learning new skills are the most successful. Being able to have an open mind while available for feedback allows that person to then share their coaching experiences in a positive manner.

Personally I looked at the leader I was naturally, the characteristics I wanted to have and the standards I wanted to set, as a leader and a customer service professional. Looking at what people were NOT doing VS how I wanted it to be. Then living and breathing my standards. A CV helps in the beginning but a solid reputation and personal recommendations outweighs it in the end.

Identify your strengths and interests and specific aspects of your daily work you can improve. I do this at the end of my day: I reflect on my achievements and what can I do better next time, I make some notes and by the end of the week I look for tools or ideas to take action.

Everyone has a unique perspective and adds value on their own way. Make sure your voice is heard and suggest innovative ideas within your circle of influence: start with yourself, then with your team and beyond!

To progress to a senior customer service role, actively seek new challenges. Go beyond routine tasks by volunteering for special projects or handling complex cases. Show initiative and creativity by proposing and implementing improvements. Cross-train in different departments to broaden your skill set. Document and share your achievements with managers and colleagues to highlight your contributions. This proactive approach demonstrates your leadership potential and commitment to adding value to your team and organization, essential for advancing in your career.

An example I've seen most frequently is carrying a business card around with you and when the opportunity presents itself build those connections. Often times organically in conversations you'll be asked what your profession is, and it's usually a good time to ask if they'd like your contact info. Business cards are not dead a beautiful card with an impressionable digital design will always be a psysical reminder of your visit!

As per my perspective, Growth in any profile are only possible by taking new challenges. You have to involve in every task no matter whether it's minor or major. Moreover you should keep your team ahead to participate & come forward to explore new ideas & decision making.

Previous to my role today, I rarely carried business cards with me. Today, I keep 4-5 in my wallet and I am constantly refilling them as people ask for my contact info. The other point here is be genuinely interested in other people in regular conversations. Seek to learn about their interests, and ask good questions that show you are listening. People connect well when they know someone is listening.

Think of your customer service career as if it was your own business. You want to learn more or develop a new skill, provide guidance to your peers when possible, help your manager give you good feedback, think of ways to make your job better and faster, provide actionable feedback to your employer. Be ready to move on and expand your network when the right opportunity comes your way.

To advance in customer service, build a strong network. Foster relationships with managers, mentors, and peers, both inside and outside your company. Attend events, join professional groups, and participate in forums to meet industry influencers. Seek advice, guidance, and feedback from experienced individuals. Don't hesitate to reach out for potential referrals. Clearly express your career aspirations to mentors and ask for growth opportunities. A robust network not only supports your professional development but also opens doors to new possibilities and insights.

For me, this one is simple. Never stop being hungry for knowledge. You can indeed learn something every day if you are open to it.

For someone who struggles with celebrating my success, I work very hard to meet it with grace and appreciation. Recognize that you worked hard and you have earned the accolades you received. Most of the time success isn't the person who does everything the fastest but is the one who constantly shows up to better themselves and is always looking to learn and grow. That can be by celebrating your successes or taking constructive criticism gracefully.
