Energy efficiency is of course important, but it has dominated and taken the lime light for far too long. We need to tackle the carbon peak of construction right now, otherwise soon we can build no longer. The other industries will not tolerate us emptying our common carbon lunch box any longer.

Effective and engaged Project Management. Period. After almost 3 decades of Observation and Inspection of thousands of Mass Grading and other related projects I can honestly say that the efficiency of earthwork in general could be increased significantly with oversight and control. When Diesel was 6.00 a gallon the contractors were forced to consider their options and the folks who were cerebral enough actually improved their efficiency by over 60%. Too many “remote” PMs who are not engaged and the equipment wanders aimlessly because of GPS and ZERO grade checkers in the industry.

Using high-quality materials is near to adopting green construction or circular construction model because it increases the life cycle of buildings ( using poor-quality materials will decrease it) Another item is reusing materials obtained from building demolition such as brick, wood, and steel, We can reuse these materials for reinforced concrete foundations formwork, temporary or permanent retaining walls of the basement, and so on.

In roofing and new construction more company's need to start switching out Asphalt shingles for recycled rubber shingles. Such as Euroshield. The roofs last longer and are hail/ wind resistant.

A major problem in Roofing is the lack of recycling places for roofing materials. Roofing metals are easy to recycle but the cost associated with separation of metals from shingles is not worth it.

It is related to our beliefs about the environment if we care about it we'll find the best solutions, Reusing construction materials is an effective way to get green and circular construction models. According to my experience, for backfilling around the foundations and channels following technical specifications, we usually should prepare specific materials miles away with a lot of time and cost, but we can reuse the excavated materials with a little cement and water by mixing them and use it for backfill easy, fast, cheap and of course, considering technical specifications!
