Most of the time an individual choses to leave a company because they do not see growth or potential to move to the next phase of their poisition. If companies are unwilling to grow and mentor their current workforce to the next level, they will continue to find themselves searching for talent.

Unfortunately the biggest problem we face in our position is work life balance. It's expected that those in the field deliver the project, typically in a short, underfunded, deadline. All while meeting daily challenges. I can speak from perspective of trying to grow a family is near impossible when you're faced with demanding projects. All the while the organization as a whole is prosperous, and those typically located near their homes get full advantage of the benefits allotted to them. Being able to have a life is most important, and there ultimately is not that much emphasis placed on the field side for that. Bottom line, until you take care of long term personal growth of those who work in the field, it will be hard to manage retention.
