We have started using low cost vision systems to check for quality. We check dimensional accuracy as well as using them to detect surface defects. These are placed at strategic stations in the manufacturing pipeline, so we can pick up on defects quickly and prevent faults from proceeding through the system. It’s low cost and extremely effective.

Technology helps a lot to cater to those loop holes that usually cause recurring issues with the manual process. We can say that putting automation on the process can speed up production but it also improves quality in the sense that there is already some technology that detects defects. To ensure that the automation will works well, we can put some IoTs or sensors that can help us evaluate performance. Whatever approach we make, the goal that we are up to is to be more Lean and to Continuously Improve.
