After reading Opportunity Myth report that conveys how my unique student population can make significant learning gains, my staff made sure that the grade level standards were taught daily. Struggling students, daily, worked on their tested level in small groups. So, grade level and tested level was important. It was important to work on scientific strategies for decoding and fluency during whole group, small group, and one on one, daily. Finally, we progressed monitored using the state format weekly. We did not wait until the week before the test to practice. We practiced everyday. It was not a test.

In conducting standardized test, validity and reliability of test should be of significant importance. This ensures that test instruments measure what they are intended to measure and provide consistent results. To achieve this, the table of specification should be used preparing test instruments and examination malpractices should be strictly avoided.
