One advice I would give to developers aspiring to elevate to team leadership is not to only lean to extensive technical knowledge. While good leader naturally works to improve team effciency, the leader should also have the mindset of always being there for the team. Leader should actively listen to the team and not only related to burning technical matters. Like Scrum Master, adopting the position of servant leader builds trust with the team and promotes performance and commitment in the long run. More often than not, the best new leader for the team might not be the one with deepest technical knowledge.
One major skill you should develop is accounitibility. Accounitibility is when people can trust you with the given tasks and this is something you develop over the time and this can be a game changer when it comes to leadership.
